Meet Our Staff
Blaine Hitzfield - General Manager
Blaine Hitzfield and his wife Charis who along with their extended family operate a sustainable pasture-based farming operation in Northeast Indiana.
Blaine is the 2nd of seven sons and has spent his life working on the family farm. During high school Blaine pursued an interest in business entrepreneurship and multimedia marketing. Blaine's interest in marketing served as an integral part of helping his family leave a conventional farming operation and pursue a dream of providing healthy nourishing foods to local consumers.
Today Blaine is responsible for the management and daily operations of Honored Prairie.
Having experienced the unique privilege of growing up and working on the family farm, Blaine is inspired to help other like-minded farms pursue a common goal by sharing his experience and knowledge through the Honored Prairie Fellowship of Family Farms.
Blake Hitzfield - Producer Support/Consultant
Blake Hitzfield manages the livestock and production operations at Seven Sons Family Farms. As the first of seven sons Blake has always enjoyed working on the family farm. As a very young boy it was not uncommon to see Blake working in the fields and with the livestock along side his father.
In addition to overseeing day to day chores and farm operations, Blake is responsible for carefully planning and managing livestock grazing rotations, winter stockpile reserves, forage rotations as well as soil and animal health. Blake understands that life first begins in the earth and when the soil is healthy the result will be healthy plants, healthy animals and healthy people.
Through several years of trial and error and success in pasture-based farming Blake has many insights to offer producers venturing into sustainable livestock production.

Anne McShane - Customer Service / NW Indiana Logistics
Graduated from Kalamazoo College in 2009 with B.A. in Psychology, Spanish and Philosophy—all very practical fields for a career. Upon graduating in 2009 in the heart of the recession, Anne struggled to find a job, let alone a career. While jobless, increasingly hopeless, and stricken with food poisoning, Anne resolved to strengthen her life’s purpose and her stomach. She launched a personal campaign to know the people that were responsible for growing and producing her food. Upon reading Omnivore’s Dilemma and watching Food Inc., Anne could never go back to Big Agriculture and CAFO-raised meat.
Anne became a customer in March 2010 and joined our Club Leader Team in June 2010. Since then Ann has also assisted in establishing a warehouse/distribution point to better serve the Chicago area. Anne also serves as the Northwest Indiana Club Leader for Pasture's Delights Diary.
Anne’s relationship with Honored Prairie has been the foundation upon which she has built her mission to promote local food, sustainable living, fair trade with farmers and environmental stewardship. She works closely with Northwest Indiana initiatives such as GrownNWI, the Stewart House Urban Farm and Gardens, South Shore Slow Food, and the Northwest Indiana Regional Planning Commission.
Anne loves to read, play in her garden, grill steaks, listen to country and travel with her husband, Ben. Anne and Ben are expecting their first child in July of 2012.
