Honored Prairie works with a handful of carefully selected farmers and artisans to provide natural nutritionally dense food products to consumers via locally organized buying clubs. Our fellowship of likeminded producers share a common goal to promote healthful foods that are a direct result of sustainable farming practices that honor the Creator's purposeful design of our land.

Our Roots - Founding and Vision
Honored Prairie is an initiative of Blaine Hitzfield and his wife Charis who along with their extended family operate a sustainable pasture-based farming operation in Northeast Indiana.
In the early 2000's, Blaine served as an integral part of helping his family leave a conventional farming operation and pursue a dream of providing healthy nourishing foods to local consumers. This dream eventually developed into a successful direct marketing venture that many dedicated patrons now know as Seven Sons Farms. Seeing the positive changes that sustainable farming brought to his families' farm, Blaine has been inspired to help others who are pursuing a common dream by sharing his experience and knowledge through the Honored Prairie Fellowship of Family Farms.
Our Focus - Nutrient Dense Food Production Through Land Preservation
We place an important emphasis on honoring and preserving our prairie-lands because this is nature's foundation for preserving our expanses of fertile land. The prairie's natural bio-diverse habitat work in symbiosis to protect and build the precious layer of fertile topsoil which the world depends for food production.
As our fertile farmlands are being mined of its nutrients due to irresponsible farming practices, we the farmers at Honored Prairie seek to reverse this detrimental pattern by returning our open farmland to the original prairie that it was intended to be. By practicing bio-mimicry and allowing plants and animals to carryout their intended purposes, we have the opportunity and privilege to provide our customers with a harmonious nutrient dense food source!
Our Purpose - Cooperating to Build Market Strength
Honored Prairie exist to help build and strengthen our small family farms by assisting in providing efficient product distribution and convenient consumer access to local and sustainably produced foods. By working together as farmers our goal is to use our combined strength and knowledge to penetrate the marketplace with wholesomely produced and honestly represented food products.
Our Core Beliefs - Stewardship, Accountability & Personal Responsibility
Farmer & Consumer Stewardship We believe that all life is created for a specific purpose and that it is each and every persons responsibility (farmer and consumer) to learn and observe what those purposes are so that we all may be better stewards of the earth.
Farmer & Consumer Accountability We believe that it is the responsibility of every individual and family to leverage producer to consumer accountability by investing time in learning where your food comes from and developing a connection with local farmers and food sources.
Taking Personal Responsibility for Your Health
Ultimately, we believe that every form of responsibility be it social or corporate first begins with personal responsibility. We therefore believe that healthfulness is NOT the responsibility of doctors, food corporations or for that matter our government, but rather, it is the responsibility of every individual. We believe that every adult should take personal responsibility for their own health and the health of their family by learning and observing the positive and negative affects that consumed foods have on the human body and make the necessary sacrifices to secure healthy sources of nourishing foods - REAL FOOD!

As more consumers begin seeking alternatives to conventional foods, the local food movement is seeing its share of overly-aggressive producers and marketers looking to make a quick profit by misrepresenting themselves and taking advantage of consumer perceptions.
